May 10, 2018 @ 8:00 am - 5:00 pm

Excellia school conducted a workshop on Safety  and Security in school premises on May 9th ,2018 for all the students from Grade I to Grade IX .

The salient points covered in the workshop were:

  • Safe/ Unsafe touch
  • Stranger Safety
  • First Aid.

The students understood the concept about  the safe/unsafe touch and this was explained to them in a simplified manner with the help of a smart-board presentation. The teachers also asked few students to volunteer and demonstrate examples of good touch and bad touch such as hugging, pushing, slapping, and patting on the shoulder for better clarity on the concept.

The students  were made aware as to how to respond appropriately to strangers and what to do if they feel danger  like yell loudly to keep themselves safe and have help numbers readily available  so as to tell a trusted adult what happened right away.

They were educated, not to speak to or respond to strangers if they offer them sweets or toys without knowing them as these are often luring tactics used by child predators.

In this workshop first aid skills were taught to the students  in an informative manner. The basic points of first aid covered were:-

  • Sanitization of hands before applying/ consuming any ointment/medicine.
  • Cleaning of wound with antiseptic lotions like Dettol/ Savlon.
  • In case of a snake bite, prevention of poison circulation through blood by tying a tight bandage above the wound immediately.
  • Application of Burnol in case of minor burn and use of blanket to put off fire as per the situation.

The workshop of boys was conducted by Ms. Shivani Singh and girls by Ms. Bhawana Pandey.

The basic purpose of workshop was to  help the students handle “not so positive events” in life in a better way so that they do not impact their growth and personality.

The students appreciated friendly and effective communication method deployed in the workshop and said that it had left a lasting impression on them.
